Saw the first of many Olympic billboards. This let’s-rally-behind-the-Games display offered a touch of British humor.

Two Olympic volunteers—a college student who's studying politics (left) and an architect—greeted me and Pamelia at the airport and shepherded me through media accreditation. Though surpassing Beijing's volunteers in friendliness is probably impossible, these two, and the staff at the accreditation desk, couldn't happier or more helpful.
My press credential gets me free rides on mass transit, and Olympic organizers are encouraging everyone to take the London Express train, which reaches Paddington Station in just 15 minutes. Organizers are trying their best to make these Games environmentally responsible, and maximizing the use of trains and subways isn't just practical, it's also green.
