On her tour of Bowdoin, Anthea saw the school mascot, a polar bear. There are no live polar bears in Maine, but Bowdoin is the alma mater of North Pole explorer Robert Peary and even has a museum devoted to him.
The mighty Androscoggin, as seen through the windows at Frontier. The Androscoggin was once so polluted that it inspired then-Maine Senator Edmund Muskie to write the 1972 Clean Water Act. A few years ago, a moose got trapped on the rock outcrop in this photo, leading to a memorable Maine rescue effort.
